Legal Aspects of Bulk and Break-Bulk Carriage
Cargo like grain, fertiliser, ores etc, which are traded in bulk quantities are normally carried in ships, which are chartered either by the buyer or the sub-charterer according to the requirements from time to time. Unlike small parcels, which are carried in break bulk condition, bulk cargo is carried as a single parcel to one buyer or diff erent parcels to diff erent buyers, if it is a homogenous cargo.
